ABOUT WORK

Once upon a time I wished I worked as an Admin Assistant or get hired in any Administrative Position. The kind of work where you are in charge of many things. But here I am working as a Reservation/Receptionist in an upscale restaurant. Yes, the job is fairly easy because most of the time you're at the office taking calls which are not so frequent. And then we only receive guests for two hours during lunch and another two hours during dinner. It's also a fun job because you get to meet new people and I'm happy to see them smile, honestly.

Working beyond 9 hours is okay, even if unpaid because I just live nearby. Having slight sore feet from walking in heels is just fine. Leading guests to an occupied table, panicking and pissing off your boss is just one of the lessons I learned the hard way (It helped me to remember to always stay calm and collected under pressure).  But you know what, I think I want to believe that just because you find something that can be learned easily, doesn't mean you should stick to it. You should listen to your heart.

My husband says I should accept the challenge and stay with my current job. While the work is challenging and I have many things to learn, I just can't accept it for what it is.

You see, while I can get along well with colleagues and strangers, I want a job that I can almost work independently. I love to strategize a lot to manage my time effectively. I want an office job with my own tools and my own ways of making myself efficient.

I guess working in a Restaurant as a Receptionist does not suit me. I'm planning of quiting soon.

God, pls just give me an office job. 😭
