SUNDAY SHORTBREAD COOKIES WITH ROYAL ICING

So today I tried to make another shortbread cookies. This recipe only requires BUTTER, SUGAR (confectioners) and FLOUR! I also experimented on Royal Icing.

I bought the food coloring at
SweetCraft Baking and Confectionery Supplies in Mandaluyong.

1/2 cup confectioners sugar, 1 cup of room temperature butter, 2 cups all purpose flour

Cream the butter, add the sugar and 1 tbsp Vanilla extract. Yung mumurahin lang na vanilla ginamit ko. I saw a PURE VANILLA extract sa Sweetcraft baking store and it costs P250.00 tapos ang liit-liit lang. Siguro next time na ako bibili nun!

After the mixrture is creamy and smooth, add the flour!

Sabi sa ibang recipe, you can actually use your hands to mix them.

Yung dough must be kept in fridge at least 30 minutes or more, kahit pa nga over night. I actually stored it for 30 minutes at mejo challenging yung pag-cut ng dough into butterfly shape. I think it'd be much easier if matagal sa ref ung dough.

FINALLY! AN OVEN THERMOMETER. See, now I have an idea kung na-reached na ba nya yung desired temperature. The thermometer is kinda costly pero worth it!

Butterfly shaped shortbread cookies!

With PURPLE ROYAL ICING!

Yan! :)

Maybe I'll replace a portion of all purpose flour with a rice flour. They say it'll make the cookie more crumbly.
